01Concept

Keep the product at the centre of the story

Fovea is a fictional compact camera, designed as a study in product storytelling. A silver body, dark optical glass and an orange shutter give the object a clear identity. Oversized lettering and a pale blue background introduce it before the visitor starts moving through the page.

The camera remains the visual anchor throughout four chapters. Scrolling changes its angle, reveals its construction and brings different pieces of text into view. The background fills the screen throughout, shifting from soft blue to cobalt and back as the story develops.

02Motion

Let scrolling take the camera apart

I built the camera as a live Three.js model with separate body panels, optical elements, aperture and sensor. A shared scroll timeline turns the assembly, spreads the layers apart and brings them back together. Moving upward reverses the same sequence, so visitors control the pace.

The typography, background arcs and supporting imagery follow that timeline. Short passages fade in on alternating sides of the product, while a small label identifies the sensor in the exploded view. The layout uses the space around the model to explain what the visitor is seeing.

03Composition

Give each chapter a different balance

In the second chapter, an open hand enters beneath the camera with a deliberate gap between them. The final chapter introduces five photographic prints on the left. They leave a common stack at slightly different moments, rotating and spreading outward as the camera completes its turn.

The hand and photographic assets were generated for the concept and integrated with the 3D model. Phone layouts reposition the imagery and text to keep the camera visible. Reduced-motion settings present the chapters with static poses, and a text summary provides another way to read the story.

WORKING CONCEPT WEBSITE

Fovea is a public, responsive website that combines product visualization, scroll animation and editorial composition. It is an independent design concept, with a fictional camera used to explore how movement can explain a product.
